Forty-five

She's never been lucky with her eartags, this one - managed to lose both her calf tags too, a little over two years ago. But I know who she is.

nice cow. looks very happy. She has lots of grass around her feet. Hows the summer looking after you?

Thanks; it's my work to make sure they keep looking happy.
Which means topping to keep the grass sweet.

We're starting to get dry now, but plenty grass ahead and what looks like another fortnight before even thinking of unwrapping some silage for them (if there's no rain).
That's the benefit of being under-stocked - the season has been kind and the cows are in good condition. However, by my reckoning the autumn milk will be expensive - would have been much more efficient to have had a few more cows to eat the surplus in spring.
Hopefully next year.
How's your farm? If you are who I think, you would have been close enough to see the smoke last week :-(
